I wrote this song whilst living in Finland. One day, I took a walk out beyond the nearby forest, and towards a lake I'd not visited before. Sitting by the frozen lake, I peered beneath the ledge of thick, thick ice...and imagined what might be happening below the surface. I wrote these lyrics in my head and typed them into my mobile phone, and then when I got back to my apartment, I began playing around on my scratchy guitar (an impulse buy at €99 and regularly coming undone and out of tune but suited me and my sketchy playing) and figuring out chords and a fluid melody that might accompany the lyrics. This is not one of my better performances of this song, but this is the song that came out of my time in the studio, so...
